Brad’s Story

Illinois native Brad Magosky transformed a childhood passion for boats and sailing into a successful and diverse career.  In the beginning, Brad spent nine years with Nitemare Racing in Chicago and then went on to serve as Captain for several Grand Prix Sailing teams – Warpath, Artemis Extreme 40, Barking Mad and Samba Pa Ti.  Throughout his tenure as Captain, Brad helped guide his teams to numerous European and World Championships.

Brad’s frustration, with the lack of shops that specialized in working on One Design Racing Boats, led to the start of Area 51 Global Logistics in 2013.  In five short years Area 51 became the go-to for the international sailboat racing community.  Providing the painting, repair, complete refits, storage and logistical support that many boat owners, as well as local yards, are now utilizing for their custom and detail work that the other shops are unable to provide.

When Brad takes a moment away from his business he enjoys cruising around South Florida and the Bahamas in his beautifully restored 1997 Hinckley Picnic Boat.
